Chances RD Admission for Yale, Princeton, UPenn, Duke, and Stanford

My my. Those some godly test scores. And if you'll allow, let me correct you. You ARE one of those super geniuses. Being asian won't help you, but it certainly won't hurt you. You have a chance at ALL of those schools. Flippy I don't know what source you're using to make those conclusions but STANDFORD isn't a match. His test scores are near perfect, yes, but many of the applicants also have near perfect scores too. There's so many valedictorians with perfect sat scores, overwhelming cs hrs, stellar gpas, etc that are rejected or deferred at standford. P_Moriarity, make sure when applying to those schools to emphasize that they are your "first choice". I advise you to choose one or two to concentrate on.

Thank you so much everybody. I really appreciate the imput.
I've just finished my applications . . . one day before the deadline :)

Published letter to the Editor in Nature Magazine (Again, probably nothing, but it happened)

dude this is NOT nothing...

anyway your chances are GREAT. i think you'll get in at least half of those schools, if not all. amazing stat. i'm jealous. =)

Biology - 770 (gasp)

You're screwed for every college now. What are you planning to major in?

You have an excellent shot. To echo everyone else, your scores are amazing. But, yes, some valedictorians and perfect scorers have been rejected. You seem very well rounded though, and I think your outside interests will help you as well. Best of luck, and I'm sure you will be met with a large number of acceptances.

I still don't understand why people with these stats and ECs are worried...seriously, who do you think has a good chance if you don't? It's incredibly stupid.

Typical Asian--probably pushed like hell by his/her parents to the point where his/her confidence has been shattered and s/he is scared of failure.

It's fantastic man. It's some amazing stats you have there, but then again a very typical stats for an asian applicants.

Why can't we have more asian applicants that play some serious sports and play instruments other than violin/piano.

Go read the EA threads on each board where you are applying. That will give you a fair idea of your chances. You didn't mention if you applied EA anywhere and what the outcome might have been. I think you're probably in at UPenn and Duke. I don't think anyone can say about the others. Both Harvard and Yale had a pretty significant massacre of high stat kids during EA. Alot of Intel and Siemens finalist were deferred.

EVH - I did join varsity cross country for two years, and did varsity baseball for one year.
bandit_TX: I got deferred EA, so I know that kids with high stats are not guaranteed admission. I must admit that I panicked when I first got my deferral, but now believe that I will get into at least one of these top universities. Yale is my top choice at this point, but I am very interested in Stanford, Harvard, and Princeton too.

you need to do a sport

put down the sports on your resume - it makes you a more 'complete' person.

/those are awesome stats
/don't hate on the asians
/Yale is a good top choice.

it's way past the deadlines. How can he put stuff on his application? Anyhow, yeah i just found out today i had a varsity letter (varsity letter is just a big alphatbetic letter that you put on your coat right?) for grade 9. I played soccer that year so i guess the letter might be for that. But damn i didn't know what a varsity letter was until like today, way too late to put on my application now.

btw, I played for junior varsity so would it be more appropriate to call it a junior varsity letter or something?

OP, where did you get deffered EA from?

princeton and harvard forget nobody gets in there. stanford yale brown columbia youre good.
you have amazing scores you should not have divulged the asian thing the competition is brutal. but you are so amazing. good luck you deserve it you must have worked hard

SonataX - I put EVERYTHING on my resume, including the little pins I got from my school's board of education meetings. I just listed the most important stuff.
lollipop27 - I got deferred from Princeton, though I'm trying my best to gain acceptance with the RD pool (I contacted the regional rep., wrote an extra essay, and will update on some future awards). Though I'm still interested in Princeton, I've grown to like Yale and Harvard just a little bit more :)

moriarty said that you got deferred early action from princeton? well thats wierd they only have early decision. so you get one app to put in thats all. what are you talking about. now im confused.

Swamping your resume is a bad idea.
ouch Rejected Princeton ED. I feel for you.

i say you're in to all of them except upenn

do you think i can still get into any top schools even though im not in top 10% (almost) and have a very poor sophomore fall semester grade (including one failing grade) BUT have a perfect SAT and SAT II scores and some very impressive extracurriculars and achievements?? i can also whip up fantastic essays and can definitely get excellent recommendations

if you are on the east coast apply to stanford you are INNNN. PRinceton is probably the toughest to get into everyone knows that but you are soo in to yale harvard and brown and penn and DUKE and MIT. OMG you are sooooo in what scores lolly.
