~30% Don’t take this the wrong way, but nothing really sticks out to me.

You should definitely take a shot, though!

gratefulgirl1193, in my judgment, you look like a match for Emory. Your 3.87 GPA is within the Emory middle 50% of admitted students, and your academic rigor looks fine. Your SAT scores and ACT score are also within the middle 50%.

Your ECs seem fine. Being yearbook editor while working 15 hours a week is impressive.

Don’t forget to show some demonstrated interest in Emory, as that supposedly helps with admissions. With strong essays and recommendations along with your other qualifications, my guess is that you will have a good shot at being accepted. Good luck!

Emory academic profile of admitted students 2010:
Academics - Admitted Students
Average GPA, middle 50% 3.74 - 3.99 / 4.0 unweighted scale
SAT verbal, middle 50% 640–740
SAT math, middle 50% 650–760
SAT writing, middle: 650-750
SAT total, middle 50% 1950–2250
ACT, middle 50% 30–33

If you show a substantial amount of interest, I think you’ll be okay.

I agree 30% with barely any interest, 50% with a good amount.

thanks for your help
quick question…
On the common app emory supplement there are only short answer questions, however on emory’s website under application materials it lists a long essay that I can’t find anywhere, does anyone know where I can find this? or if the application has been changed?

I remember writing short essays last year only, in addition to the common app one. I’d say Emory is a match for you. Definitely demonstrate interest, and REALLY convey WHY you want to come here in your “Why Emory” essay. Best of luck!

It’s a match. I’d say 50%.

in my why emory essay i wrote about the amazing psychology department, research opportunities, how happy i am that they have a cognition and development major, and their colloquium.
kids from my school have typical gotten in to emory, even some really under qualified students so i’m not that worried.

In that case, can I ask why you made this thread?

i was unsure if i should apply and after talking to some friends, counselors, and people on this forum, i have decided that i am going to apply regular decision

is that a sufficient explanation for you?
