So... I swore I would never post one of these but I couldn't resist

GPA: UW 3.48 (I am afraid this will keep me out) W 4.38
I attend a very competitive public school in Northern California and have taken the most rigorous courses every year

SATs: Math 770 Reading 720 Writing 720
SAT IIs: US 650 (retook in Jan, waiting for scores) Lit 750 Spanish 720 (also waiting on latest scores)

I won't make you guys read all of my ECs but for the past two years I have interned for a political fundraising consultant, and I am the youngest in the history of the firm to hold this position (the interns before me were all in their 20s and 30s)

I applied as a comparative literature major... although I don't think that makes a difference

I think you stand a good chance. Your SAT is definitely there and the GPA is better than it seems because of your schooling...you can only hold out for so long before giving into the temptation to post those chances! I'd say NYU is a target and might even dare to say safety but NYU is just too unpredictable sometimes so you never know.

nice stats lol almost identical to mine. i have 3.4 uw and 4.3 weighed (at a competitive hs in ct, w/ most demanding schedual), 800m710v690w, with internship on joe lieberman's senate election campaign and such... r u a senior or a junior
oh and whats ur class rank that could matter too, cuz i'm still top 5% with my gpa

see it has nothing to do with luck, in fact if anything its bad luck for me. its not that everyones stupid at my school and my crappy gpa still ranks pretty high. the thing is classes are wicked hard and unlike some of hte other places where like everyone gets straight A's all the time, you cant really expect to do that at my school, where like mayb 5 ppl out of 500 get straight As. i assure u my schools very competitive still. the class that graduated last year had like 5 or so accpeted to cornell, several to dartmouth, 2 mit...etc in a class of 400, basically our school places like 3-5% into the cream of the crop schools every year. i mean thats prob around 15-20 kids each year out of about 450 class size. while thats nothing compared to some of the elite private schools here in ct where they place like 50% in ivies, i'd say thats pretty good for a public school. like i said earlier its prob bad luck for me that my gpa's so low, not good luck for me that my ranks so high

My school doesn't rank actually but my counselor told me my weighted GPA places me into the top 10%, although my unweighted probably doesn't because at my school 3.2 is the average unweighted... It's just that I have taken literally the most rigorous course load and we offer every single AP and Honors possible which is why there is such a disparity between my weighted and unweighted GPAs

I am a senior and my school really doesn't rank at all, I saw the forms my counselor filled out and she put n/a for class rank for everybody regardless of weighted/unweighted GPA

I think you're in good shape too! I think I read some place the new president really wants higher SAT scores! Plus your other stats are in the right place for NYU.

oh lol a 3.4 at our school would be top 40%. No kidding. Our schools a biotch. lol The difference between a 99.1 and a 99.2 GPA weighted would be at least 15 ranks. Yeah That sucks!

This is interesting; we have the same SATs (2210) and GPA (3.5 unweighted). The only difference is that applied to Stern, and I know that it's very competitive to get into Stern now; I don't know if my numbers are good enough! I hope what people are saying how NYU wants higher SATs is true...
