First, my record; then the schools.

Okay, now that that is done with, the schools:
Stanford
Harvard
Columbia
UCLA
UCSB
Amherst
Pomona

Also, does anyone have any other suggestions for safety/match schools? My interests cover a huge range so I'm open to most anything: Math, Science, History, Philosophy; I'm having lots of trouble deciding upon my area of study. However, one career interest that I am considering is being an attorney.

Harvard columbia stanford all big reaches. why? you have the gpa. but you don't have any noticeable hook and you don't have that great of a score and your ec's are low-end for HYPS and you don't have any great awards. With that said, you are guaranteed in at any UC's, and probably pomona.

Thank you for your response; I figured that those three schools were all real difficult to get into.

However, if you have already gone through the admissions process and are currently attending to have attended college, do you have any suggestions as to other possible schools that I can have? It seems that my list consists primarily of reaches and maybe a match or two here such as UCLA or UCSB. I was wondering if you have any suggestions regarding other schools that can be used as matches and safeties.

Thanks in advance!

Hopefully your CR goes up to the 700s. If it does, your standardized test record is fantastic. If you have an EC or a hook that makes you unique and you articulate this within your essay, rec, and interview, I think you could feasibly get into any of these with your strong sec. record and test scores. At any rate, Harvard and Stanford are reaches. Slight reach at Amherst, Pomona, and Columbia. If you have california residency, high match at UCLA and match at UCSB. If you do, throw in some more UC system schools as safeties and matches.

Cornell would be a fairly realistic top school for you, if you want an Ivy. University of Chicago would be good-it is good in a wide range, covering your interests. It's good for pre-law and has a top ranked law school. You would fit in well at U Chicago, and it is highly ranked. If you like Amherst, you could apply to a couple more liberal arts colleges as safeties/matches. Occidental would be a match/safety. I think that you will be accepted at Amherst though.

MChong:

Assuming you are a California resident,
UCLA: Safe Match
UCSB: Safety

Anyone else have any ideas about my chances at these schools?

Flopsy, what of the other schools?

OneMom, thanks for your input; an Ivy isn't exactly necessary and I don't want to apply to Cornell. With respect to Amherst, you think I will be accepted? If you have time, could you please explain why - I thought it was a reach for me.
