Chances? Suggestions?

Here are my stats...

SAT: 690 Verbal, 640 Writing, 490 Math

G.P.A.: About 2.9 (but I should be pulling it up my senior year)

Classes: Honors English classes 3 years of high school, regular English last year. Regular history courses 3 years, AP Comparitive Gvmt for senior year. Science classes: Earth and Space Science, Biology, and Active Physics. Math: Intro to Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry. I doubt I'll be too attractive an applicant with anything more than those math courses but each class I barely pass with a D and right now I'd like to concentrate on bringing my GPA up. I will be graduating with 5 foreign language credits (5 years of French).

Extra Curriculars: President of French club during 9th and 10th, member Young Democrats during 11th, and member of our school's volunteer programme (we don't do a lot, just go out a few times to speak to young kids about racism.)

So far my top choices are Richmond University in London, College of Charleston, University of South Carolina, and University of Tampa.

Does anyone know what my chances would be at those schools or any other schools that would accept the credits I'll be graduating with (and really my abysmal transcript in general)? To be completely honest my requirements for colleges have been narrowed down to: 1. accept my math credits, and 2. is in a warm climate. However, "warm climate" is negotiable.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback!

have you considered going to a JC? it might not seem prestigious, but it would be a good way to catch up on stuff you need to work on and then transfer into your school of choice as a junior.

im sorry but a 2.9 won't cut it at most major colleges. try a community college and transfer somewhere even better than you originally thought was possible.

hey, don't pay attention to totallysweet. all of her replies i have read have been extremely pessimistic. you are not limited to community colleges with a 2.9 and your scores! just try to bring it up to at least a 3.0 and you would stand a great chance at several of your schools. good luck!

What is that in letter grade, because G.P.A's are calculated differently a 2.9 at my school is a b average, which is not terrible at all. What does a 2.9 Translate to at your school?
