Chances? Thanks!

I'm a junior, so I will be applying to these colleges in the fall. I just wanted to see if I am on track to achieve my goals. Thanks!

Objective:
-SAT I: Taking in May, but PSAT 221
-SAT II: Taking Bio, Math I, and Math II in June
-Unweighted GPA: School Doesn't Calculate, but 4.1 W...just a note that valedictorian this year will have around a 4.2-4.3, so for those who say its impossible to get into some schools without a 4.5, that is physically impossible at my school...we dont have grade inflation like the schools that give kids 5.0+
-Rank: School Doesnt Rank, but around top 5%
-AP (place score in parenthesis): Taking Bio & Latin this year, Physics, Calculus, and Gov next year
-Senior Year Course Load: Most rigorous, school limits AP classes to 6 over 4 years, I will graduate with only 5 due to other classes
-Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Southwest Ohio Water Enviroment Association: The Ohio Water Enviroment Association Science Award, Governor's Award for Excellence in Water Resources Research, The Ohio Section AWWA Award, Superior Rating at Regional Science Fair, The Ohio Academy of Science Awards- Superior Rating, Entering Intel Competition this coming year, National Honors Society, Latin Honors Society, Going to be National Merit Semi-Finalist, First Honors, Admitted with Distinction to HS

-School Activities: Classics club, diplomat, peer tutor, PAL mentor, yearbook, OJCL
-Job/Work Experience: N/A
-Volunteer/Community service: Ronald McDonald House Volunteer, American Red Cross Volunteer, Usher at Professional Ballet Productions, Representative for Ballet Academy, Founded Food Allergy Foundation that places children with food allergies with teenage mentors, also raises money for food allergy research
-Summer Activities: NYLF/med 2007, Biomedical research at Yale (2008) that will be used to enter the Intel Comp., Ballet Summer Intensives 2005-2007 (6 weeks long, dancing 8hrs/day)
-Essays: Either Ballet & what it has taught me or living with food allergies
-Teacher Recommendation: Should be amazing
-Counselor Rec: Should be amazing

Thanks so much! Please be honest =)

You are a very strong candidate. I do not see your GPA as being weak. Top colleges are probably familiar with grading at your school, and your test scores will help. Lack of job experience does not matter. Your schedule is packed- you are putting the time into ballet and other activities. Schools really don't expect a student to work at a fast food restaurant instead of doing something in the arts, ECs, or sports. Don't worry about it. If there is any weakness, it is that you have so many ECs that you could easily look unfocused. Be careful on the EC portion of your applications to highlight the strongest ones, and then at the end present the mishmash of minor ones as a means of broadening your outlook (and supporting your school). To me, it seems that your strongest ones are ballet and scientific research/health related.

Ya I'm gonna agree with one mom in that your academics are fine, although your SAT score needs to be pretty high. Your EC's are plentiful but you need major success in them, such as a state or national win. But you said you were took the USAMO? cause thats pretty good and that'll be a big thing that makes you look better.
I'm thinking you can get into notre dame but the other ivy league schools are a reach

Thanks so much for your replies! They were both very helpful! As far as the ECs, I don't think I will list all on my application..I see what you mean by it being unfocused. Ballet and research are my main things. And as for "winning" something in my ECs, ballet isn't a competition "sport," unless you go to a competition school, which I don't. I was one of the few chosen to appear in a couple professional productions with the professional company...would that be worth mentioning as a "success" in the EC area?

I'm sure you'll make atleast 5/12 schools.

I'm not sure about Harvard; Yale- maybe since you have connections and influence, MIT- maybe depends on how much of the research at yale you actually do as oppose to letting the prof lead the way. If you do well in Intel then you probably have a good shot. In at notre dame- legacy. The rest i'm too lazy to rate for you. Nothing really spectacular in your ec's however, the seem basic, the food allergy foundation seems good- shows initiative but i'm not sure why there needs to be a foundation. Your academics seem all right but not great and your awards are pretty nice so overall it's hard to tell.

Sorry for not giving a viable handicap of your chances, universities are so capricious that it's almost worthless to even post your stats and hope for valid criticism.
Hope you do well with the intel and your research at Yale- those two things can be the deciding x factors for top universities. Good luck

Yea...the research and Intel comp. are going to be big factors. As far as the food allergy "foundation," it's not really a foundation per say, but I didn't want to name it just for privacy purposes. It's more of like a mentor group/charity to raise money for food allergy research. And again, any comments are appreciated, so don't feel like you have to chance me on all of them! I'm only really interested in Notre Dame at the moment ;)...if I don't get in, I don't know what I will do!

i deff think u can get into Notre Dame. Why not?

I will be very surprised if you do not get into Notre Dame. I think that you are fine there, and will also be admitted to a good number of your other choices.

I am just worried because quite a few other girls from my school are applying to ND, and one is a double legacy and the other 2 are the same academically as me. I just REALLY want to get in. I am already so stressed about it all!
