I took my SAT Subject tests today in Biology-M and US History. On the practice tests I scored 660 and 690. So hopefully I did around there, but we'll see.

My PLAN test was a 24.

Also this summer I'm doing a three-week summer academy at a state college where I'll be doing an intro to chemistry and intro to environmental health. I'll recieve college credit for this. I had to apply and they only take 55 juniors/seniors in the entire state of Ohio.

I'm looking into Michigan State and Univ of Michigan (I'd be out of state). I'm trying to become more realistic since I probably don't have a chance with Dartmouth, Cornell, McGill, or Case Western. Are there any other schools I should look into that I would fit into with my GPA/EC/SATs that you can think of?

Thanks a lot.

Any SAT info? Case Western is absolutely realistic. Dartmouth and Cornell are not.

you seem like bright kid dont let anyone tell you cant get in anywhere always try because you can always defy odds I.E. my brother had a 3.16 and a 26 on the ACT and got into Ann Arbor and University of Chicago

I haven't taken the SAT yet. I'll probably do that this coming up school year and I'll probably take the ACT too.

I'm surprised that I may have a chance at U of M. My dad went there for his undergrad and grad (a long time ago, and that's not why I want to go either), but my parents are like pretty sure I won't get into any of the schools I look at unless I raise my GPA.

We saw Dartmouth a little bit ago and I loved it. Along with Cornell. Any idea how high I should get my GPA up to have a fairly good chance there?

ALSO, since I took the AP tests in biology and US history, if I do poorly, can I not send those certain scores since I'll be taking more later? Or do bad AP scores not hurt you at all since they're not used for admissions? Also about the SAT Subject Tests, can I also not report certain ones because somebody said to take about 4 so you can pick and chose to send only in your top scores. So I figure if that's right, since I've taken US history and biology-M, I might as well take chemistry, physics, and French later. But any ideas on if you can "pick and chose"? Thanks.

For GPA, go for the weighted courses and study like a madman. There's nothing else you can do to raise GPA other than get good grades. Unless your school lets you take online/summer courses for extra credit, in which case by all means game the system and milk that for all its worth.

I think AP scores are like SAT scores; you send one, you send them all. I believe that AP scores tend to be used more as like a reference to how strong your AP course was; a strong AP score will correlate to a strong AP class, which may make up for a lower grade.

For SAT scores, you send them all. However, most colleges only really look at the best scores you have (1-3 depending on college)

what are you looking for in a school? what is about the schools you mentioned that you like?

I like schools that are near big cities with lots to offer. I don't like small colleges. I like a nice campus feel and a safe feeling. I like a campus where it's open and you feel free.

I loved Dartmouth's atmosphere and attitude about education. The same thing about Cornell. Haa. We saw that a year or 2 ago and I loved it, but I didn't realize that it was Ivy untill a year ago.

One thing from U of M. This is in their 50 percentile.

Unweighted high school GPA of 3.7–4.0
28% with a 4.0 GPA
52% with 3.9 or higher GPA

Soo I'm not even in their 50 percentile...yikes. and I'm out of state...
