chances to a few schools...??

SAT Verbal: 660
SAT Math: 730
SAT Writing: 760
SAT Total: 2150
SAT II: Chinese:770, Math2:670, USHistory:670
ACT: N/A
AP/IB taken/scores: the special program i'm in makes it really unrealistic to take AP courses until junior year(due to special curriculum that we must go by): Junior: AP US History(4), AP AB Calculus(4), Senior: US Government, Biology, Environmental Science, English Language, Economics, Statistics
GPA weighted: 4.49
GPA unweighted: 3.69
Rank or % estimate: unranked class

Subjective:
Essays: average...maybe good?...but lets just be safe and assume that my essays will in no way effect my chances for admissions(positive or negative) or be a hook....
Teacher Recs: pretty good
Counselor Rec: pretty good
Hook (if any): i have no clue what constitutes as an actual hook nowadays since everyone has a billion different extracurriculars..but I was given an award for leadership by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation for my work at the Youth Conservation Corps...i'm a pretty good violin player(All-state level) and will definitely pursue in college...submitted tape...will help maybe??

Location/Person:
State or Country: Virginia
School Type: public magnet school (takes about 80-90 kids from around the county)
Ethnicity: Asian(Chinese)....probably the breaker...lol<<<..since most colleges are probably so sick and tired every asian applicant getting 2100+ on their SAT's...
Gender: m
Legacy Yes/No: no
Recruited Yes/No: no
Important ECs: a bunch of stuff...focuses on music, debate/model un and community service....few leadership positions..not really feel like listing them all...and none of them are hook-worthy... so just go ahead and assume that I have some pretty good extracurricular activities..but none of them hook material...

Other Factors: I go to this specialty school that supposedly colleges like(mostly instate schools)...very rigorous course load...very competitive...my grades have had an upward trend...this year..with my loaded schedule...im getting straight 6 A/A+'s and 1 B+(in AP bio)..which can only help..so give me an idea of where i stand....i understand that college admissions is an inexact science...

Wow. Your stats are basically the same as mine (and I have the same problem with AP courses). I'm thinking in at everywhere except maybe carnegie mellon and emory, but you still have an excellent chances there, depending on EC involvement. Tell me about that and if it is a plus for you you have those chances listed above. If it is a negative, NYU and UMich might also be slight problems.

Hey..what do you mean interelations??? "Tell me about that and if it is a plus for you you have those chances listed above. If it is a negative, NYU and UMich might also be slight problems."

All I meant was that if you are particularly weak under the EC category your chances won't be as good, however, if you can emphasize your positives (Youth conservation core, leadership award), you will be fine. You are pretty good everywhere else stats wise though. Is there any way to raise your unweighted GPA, just so that you can sit back, relax, and watch the acceptance letters roll through the mailbox?

haha..you make this whole thing sound nice and stress free...but yea... i have some good EC's..but im pretty sure none of them are hook material...unweighted GPA will go up after first semester senior year...to about a solid 3.7something...still..not superb..but...hey...gpa is not something u can change in 3.5 hours(like an sat score)...gotta live with it...but thanks...

haha no problem. I hate gpas. its actually a sign if you do work. but yeah after you do so much its in the hands of God, and we just go to CC to pray a lot. thats how i see it.

uva, emory, carnegie mellon, william and mary, umich and emory are all pretty tough to get in to. but i dont see why you wouldnt get into most of them sicne your sats and credentials are very good. the rest are looking like safeties for you.

good luck!

bump..........
