EC:

I am varsity letterman for the baseball team at my school. I am also in the career academy at my school which is International Business, I am actually President of the Academy. I am also in FBLA, Spanish Honor Society, and Crest Club.

To elaborate on PICC: PICC is a program that I am in at my school. It stands from Program of International Culture and Commerce. I have always been interested in cultures, languages, and business. I have pursued this in high school by studying Spanish up to Spanish V and joining this organization. As will be shown on my transcript I have taken PICC courses throughout my high school career and have learned an immense amount. At the PICC club meetings there have been guest speakers that talk about their culture and their business and how they rose through adversity and fought for their dreams in order to support their family and I am simply fascinated. I believe that learning about the struggles in life and how lucky I am that I haven’t had to face financial burdens has developed me into a better person and I am very glad to have been in this program and I look forward to meeting many new people in college. This year I was named the Class Representative for the program, something that I take a great deal of pride in.

Volunteer:

Last year I was a tutor for middle school students. This year I'm a tutor for elementary school students. I also was a camp counselor at a summer kids camps for 4 years, all volunteer. I have also participated in Habit for Humanity. I am also a coach for little league baseball.

I am also a very spiritual Catholic. I am confirmed into the Catholic church and I am my little brothers Confirmation sponsor. I am now a lector at my church. I also have participated in the Cold Night Shelter at my church, coming to my church at 4:00 AM to help the homeless.

awards:
Lettered on baseball team
President of career academy
National Honor Society
Named to Spanish Honor Society
Graduating Summa Cum Laude

Recommendations should be pretty good.

Essay is about my hearing loss that I have had since I was five, it's pretty severe. My mom is an English professor and she said it's one of the best she's seen. Also wrote about my specific interest in PC and elaboration on one of my EC's that they asked for is on baseball, which are both very good I've heard. If you would like to see them, I would be willing to send.

Thanks.

Hard to say. Published middle 50% range SAT CR+M is 1120 to 1290 (I'm assuming PC in RI, correct?). Your current scores are on the low side. On the other hand, they are test optional, and your GPA is good, and your ECs look OK. Even though PC is fairly selective, I figure, based on your GPA and ECs and assuming a good essay, you probably have around a 40% chance. In other words, not bad. Better than most. By the way, if your SATs are above 1205 (that's PC's median) you should probably send PC the scores. Also, make sure you show interest. If they send someone down to Florida to make a presentation, make sure you show up and talk to the presenter after...Get on their mailing list...Go for an interview at PC if you can afford it, or arrange for an interview in Florida, etc. Let them know you're interested.

I guess I forgot to mention, I talked to the recruitor that will evaluate my application while he was down here in Florida. He told me that being that I am a resident in Florida and that they have very few Floridians gives me an advantage. He seemed very impressed with me while there, saying "well when you're here next year" and then he asked me even though I didn't have my transcript he asked about my credentials and he said "well I think you should apply early." Repeat, he is the one that will be looking at my application.

OK. Sounds very promising. Seems like you have a better chance than I originally thought. Just make sure you apply to other schools - a few matches, a few safeties - just in case. Having alternatives if things don't go your way at PC is a good idea.

Yeah, hoping for the best. Applied just now. I've heard that I might get word back in mid-December. They say early January but that's what I've heard. If I don't get in, then I'll still have plenty of time to search for safety I think.
