Kayt :
I Don't really know, because I'm new.....
Sorry. But I think you have a good chance according to the college books...

Both of you will do fine, I applied november last year got in, and several of my friends with SATs ranging from 1700-2100 have also been accepted. the 60-70% appectance rate for U mich looks very friendly and unless ur doing preferred entry i dont think there will be a problem for either of u. and hey hoganwan! I'm living in Hong Kong now :) wut school did u go to, im in West Island School.

wow... so cool!!
I am from Diocesan Boys' School......
So, are you form six?

Michigan does not have around a 60-70% acceptance rate. It's more near 40-50%, especially for this years class. They are cutting down the entering class size because they are renovating one of the main dorms.

The biggest thing in UM admissions is your UW GPA. To the OP - Kids have gotten in with typically a 3.75+ from my school to Michigan. If you're in the 3.5-3.75 range, expect a deferral. Make sure you apply early, and write good essays.

UM Ann Arbor, right?

Slight reach.. GPA is too low.

Kids, apply as early as possible. It will help your chances, and the sooner you get in anywhere, the sooner your senior year gets awesome (not in terms of being able to totally slack, but you will feel a gazillion times more relaxed)!

Last year's admitted class' middle 50% ranged from 3.6 to 3.9 in GPA, I don't think below a 3.75 means an automatic deferral.

Yes, that's the admitted class at the end of the year, not the admitted class before April.

Michigan typically defers/rejects 65% of their initial applications. Half of their deferred applications usually end up in acceptances, however, this year has been different with the closure of a dorm, meaning a smaller incoming class.

So unless you have top statistics (mainly GPA), it's likely a deferral. Look at the Michigan forum and check out the great statistics of many of the deferred applicants, many have 3.7 GPA's, 31 ACT's, and didn't get in upon first review.

Seems logical.

yea im form six, and now that i have a place in Uni, im super lazy....senioritis...haha

Thanks everybody!
Topher: o...... haha........... can you post your stats please?

Bump! Bump! Bump!

haven't heard from UMich, and getting a little worried:

out of state, school does not rank.
GPA: 3.85 (unweighted), excellent midyear report, probably brought it up some
SAT: 2260 (740 M, 750 CR, 770 W)
SATII's: Physics-780, MIIC-770
classes: junior year- 5 AP's, 1 honors (max) (scores: 4, 4, 5, 5, 5)
senior year- 5AP's, 1 honors (max)
sports: 3 year varsity track (captain as a senior), 3 year varsity winter track (captain as a senior)
clubs: key club, math honor society, french honor society, national honor society
volunteer: about 100 hours total
work experience: job during summer of junior year

i might've applied preferred to ross...i can't find it anywhere on my application data page, though.

I bet you are lying..... and I hope you are.....
That sucks...... My chance is like zero then...

haha not lying.
i submitted kinda late, though. the application status says 01/06/06. hoping that doesn't impact it too badly.

Then I should apply in the summer then....

If you're applying for next year, do it EARLY. If you have good stats, you will be in. They are rolling. Kids were deferred weren't on Michigan's "High Admit" category.

However, if you apply late, you will find yourself waiting until April for a decision.
