Is a 2187 around the 90%? (You don’t need to retake that if it is. A 90% is not going to make or break).
You have a solid application and a mix of schools. My guess is you will get into one of them. What I see lacking is the one thing that makes you super unique or very useful to the school. I think this will make the very low acceptance rate schools a long shot.
You are competing with a lot of kids who got all A’s and are well rounded. I have no idea how AO’s pick out of that bunch. I think luck has a lot to do with it. You write an essay which really hits home for an AO so you get in.
Agree with @one1ofeach above. Solid for consideration but the ECs do not stand out. Typically a student government/leadership role is helpful because they want you to be engaged with the new class…Student Council president, NJHS VP, etc. OR something like, USA Track and Field #22 in the nation in the 800m (with a link providing evidence of the claim). OR your art work was displayed at a show of note that would impress the faculty.
Full pay is helpful though as some of these low acceptance schools pay out aid to roughly 50% of the class, but they still need income from full tuition. So the essay may be key…what stands out for your community engagement or school leadership? Is there an interesting story for the human trafficking effort?
Certainly you have a chance to get into any of those schools with your current resume, so don’t think “we” think you have no shot (and what do we really know). It is just that there will be 500-1000 VERY similar applicants looking to score about 100 seats available, assuming 200 seats go to the class presidents, owners of small businesses, renowned artists and musicians, and national level athletes that also have straight As, high SSATs, and great interviews. (I just made up a 9th grade class of 300)
You might go 1-1-5 or 5-1-1 for offers. Sadly, the wait to M10 is long and you will never know what went right and what went wrong with your application.
(I just reread this, not meant to be a downer…you might go 5-1-1! Good luck)
@PrepDad2018@one1ofeach ahhh thanks a lot for the feedback! one small question: what does 1-1-5/5-1-1 stand for? I’m still not informed of all the CC acronyms/abbreviations yet.
Mercurrii – It’s not my post but I’ll jump in so you aren’t confused overnight. :). Pretty sure it’s referring to number of admits/WL/rejections. So you could end up with 5-1-1 or 1-1-5 because that’s just how competitive it all is.
@Mercurrii Yes, sorry. Side point, a WL is “nice” but it really means a No. Most of the schools on your list will offer ZERO waitlist seats. If they do have 1 or 2, it is likely they know who they are hoping to fill them.
It does mean you were considered as a serious candidate, but they can’t take 1,000 additional well qualified applicants.
@flowergirl1214 I know this might seem weird but…Can I get a feedback from you? I’d like to hear advice from someone that got into Exeter. TYYYY ahhh sorry :0
also, whats like, your opinion on my app. cuz I’ve heard you play cello which is like NICE.
and um so where I’m applying from Exeter held an event right, and everyone applying and all the guest student speakers were all from the same private schools and I was the only one? from a public school? idk is that like common in Exeter? because I’m kinda scared to go against private school kids with perfect resumes ahhhh
So I’m a freshie at Andover and judging from the people I know, you have highhh chances. I see a lot of people saying that you need something unique or exciting, but tbh, lots of people I know are just there because of sports and decent grades, which you definitely have. Just bring a lot of personality to your essays and interviews, and you should be fine!
I had mine with an Alum which was a m a z i n g. She really liked me, and I just sent out an email to my AO with some Q’s that sadly the alum couldn’t answer, hopefully she replies!
