thanks aster, any ideas for other safeties?

Leadership can mean many things, not neccesarily starting a club. It could be doing research, it could be being an officer/captain, or it could just be doing something unusual.

Syracuse? Yeah you're safe there. The reason why I put Vandy and Davidson as reaches is because at these schools, they begin to expect something besides good numbers. I think you have great potential to get in, you just need to stand out a bit more in their crowd of applicants.

yeah, true. I have alot of credentials with piano, some awards/accomplishments, but yeah, nothing crazy. I guess im a well rounded person who hasn't really foundn complete passion...shame on me.

My advice, try to get recruited for track if you can. I'm not sure what times you need for those schools tho.

My times are good to go at U of South and Davidson. Assuming my times are competitive, is it likely that alot of other applicants will have similar times as I do and get recruited? how competitive is recruiting at DIII

Uhhhhhh, I'm really not the person to ask. I do think you are in the running for getting recruited.

Davidson is a terrific school, I highly reccomend it. U of the South has a beautiful campus too. Good luck with those colleges, you have a nice list and are bound to get into quite a few.

Thank you very much Fish. Anyone know much about DIII track>

Im in track and yes it'll help but not much unless u letter or accomplish sumthing like win a meet

Wut is DIII?

well ill be lettering 11th and 12th...DIII is division III sports

oh one more, out of curiousity (i actually really loathe this school): U of Texas at Austin (out of state)

You loath it? Then why are you asking?

If you play piano well, than PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come to Sewanee!

so i can sabotage it if i get accepted. what are my chances there. Fiddle do you go there? I play pretty well, i dunno, i've played for many years...hey if u go there, what were ur stats when u got accepted?

hey i think you have a great chance at emory and vandy. Your ecs will hurt a little bit because they like to see leadership ect. ECs can be so important that they may even make up for a gpa that is pretty low.

hey Mystic how low is low?

i dont think emory is in a bad neighborhood...
elcommando, have u actually been there because i completely disagree

yes they have security, but you can definitely go off campus without "getting shot"
its 6-7 miles from downtown atlanta
its an amazing school and the campus is phenomenal (and safe, but not "like a bubble,") so i highly recommend anyone considering the school actually visit it before discounting it

*no offense is meant by this post, im just having trouble 'disagreeing agreeably'

Everything is good and track is a good sport, just work on those test scores dude.

lolok- What are your events and times? The DIII schools really vary in what they are looking for. Some, like Haverford, are track powerhouses.

Emory looks like it would be a match/reach for you, in other words, i think you have a decent shot.

My son is at Emory and loves it. It is in a beautiful, leafy suburb of Atlanta called Druid
Hills, a few miles from Buckhead, Midtown, Downtown, Virginia Highlands, etc.--a good location.

Emory's sports scene is very strong as far as how the teams perform both on the field and academically--I don't know too much about track specifically . The coaches could probably advise you as to how you would fit in to their program.

If you have any specific questions. I'll try to answer them for you.
