chances...white female engineer

[ok first of all.. i havent been contacted for an interview. should i be worried? i live in a big city and im sure there are cornell alum around.

also..i just got into vanderbilt engineering with a $20,000 merit scholarship. so i guess they liked my app.]

hey...do you think ill get in? i heard they start mailing likely letters to female engineers in march...do you think ill get one?

kk so here are my stats:

SAT Writing-770 (10 essay)

Total: 2300

SAT II Biology-740 freshmen year

SAT II Chemistry-670 sophomore year (unusual circumstances combined with not studying)

SAT II American History-740 junior year

SATII MathIIC-800 (senior year)

AP World History-4 (10th grade-AP World History was not offered at my school but I took the exam anyway)

AP American History-5 (11th)

AP Government-5 (11th)

AP English-4 (I did not take AP English but took the exam anyway-11th)

GPA 7.8/8 W..my school is weird. basically a 4.0 UW

My letters of recommendation will be very good, especially from my physics teacher (im the first person in the history of his honors physics class to get above a 100 average and its a tough class that only 2-3 ppl make As in out of like 25).

1 essay is about why i wanna do biomedical engineering
one is about how i admire the 1960s in america...pretty interesting.
both are pretty well written. my college guidance person said i was the best written he had ever seen that wanted to do engineering.

sooooo what do ya think? think i have a shot?

u have a great shot

good luck

You know this isn't a major here...

not that you can't study it...but just so you know

yeah but there's bioengineering right? its like the same thing im pretty sure. i used the same essay but just changed what i called the major in each one depending on the shool. so for cornell im pretty sure i put bioengineering...at least i hope thats right.

I don really think it's the same thing.

From the site:

Biological engineering is an interdisciplinary area focusing on the application of engineering principles to analyze biological systems and to solve problems in the interfacing of such systems -- plant, animal or microbial--with human-designed machines, structures, processes and instrumentation. A basic goal is to design technology that operates in harmony with the biology of living systems. In many cases, currently available knowledge is inadequate to support engineering design of food and biological processes. Hence, greater fundamental knowledge of biology and its potential applications are also of concern to the food and biological engineer.

Seems more mechanical-ish than medical-ish.

biomedical is a branch of biological...cornell does not have a specific "biomedical engineering" major, but it has a minor. so i would major in biological engineering and minor in biomedical. i just checked my essay and i explained all that. my info came from: http://www.engineering.cornell.edu/programs/undergraduate-education/majors/bio-eng/index.cfm

Female engineer? That helps tremendously. You look pretty good on paper, best of luck to you.

Ya I'd definitely give you a good chance. Plus ur from pretty far away. Best of luck!!!
