chances without awards

I look at all these people that post and they all have so many awards and distinctions. Can someone still get into a highly selective college if they have solid grades/sat scores and good ec's along with a great essay without a bunch of awards? In my case I'm a good student, a sophmore, but i don't think I can get published in a paper or win a prestigous national award by the time I done with hs. Does that mean I have no chance of getting into schools like Stanford or Cornell? What if I can express myself well and I don't have any medals or buisness schools on my resume, do I still have a legitimate shot?

u of chicago doesn't even have a section for that.
