Ok
Starting junior year,, so this is more of what should I do to better my chances,,,because ive got a year to get it right

PRestigous high school
3.8 weighted gpa. 3.7 unwe
2 ap and 5 honrs so far
first time sat was a 1600...but currently taking a class and that will go to atleast 1900
Lost of sports and e.c.
Also 200 hundred hours of community service....

Wut should i do to better my chances
not a legacy or anything like that

I am not a grader of universities coz i am applying for next fall and am asking everyone else "What are my chances", but i can help u in telling you that i also used to get around 1600 in my SAT's but with constant practice from books like Getting Started with SAT (by Princeton Review) which gives you the basics of grammar and how ETS tests your english and practising from books like 11 Practice Tests (by Princeton Review) and College Board official SAT study guide i can guarantee you a score above 2000. But you must be ready to practice a lot and must put in a lot of hard work and must be hard on yourself if you make a mistake.

One of the best ways to correct your mistakes is by asking yourself why did you select the answer that u had selected and then understanding the mistake so that you will not repeat it in the future.

I realised this method only after giving the SAT twice and gettign a score of 1800 and 1700 in the two attempts. And i am now getting scores of about 2100. Hope you do better.

Best of luck in the SAT and hope you get a score of 2000+.

Thanks so much sudu
Im only a junior so im continuing to study. Im enrolled in a total prep princeton review sat class... so im sure ill do better next time
thanks for the tips

Biggest advice on how to improve your SAT score for the reading and writing sections: don't study, just read. Study isn't going to teach you how to write, only reading well-written stuff will. Read magazine articles, read books, maybe read a 'cliffnotes' type publication after you read a book, just to see what all you picked up on vs. what stuff you missed. Since you're still young, I'm just going to assume that taking another year of math will improve your score in that area.

The community service will look really good. The only thing I would say, other than get your SAT score up (or look at ACT?), is to make sure that some of your extracurriculars have something to do with your intended field of study.

What does your course load look like this year-which honors/AP courses are you taking? And what other ECs/sports do you do? Could you tell us more about your community service? How well do these activities tie in with your intended major?

Ok thanks for all responses
So far I have played 2 years of football and 2 years of baseball
I am in NHS
Key Club
Best Buddies
200 hundred community service hours dealing with children who have not developed properly
This year I am only doing Baseball due to that fact that is nearly impossible to play 2 sports anymore with school and everything
My course load is as follows
Ceramics
Honors Trig/Algebra 2
spanish III......couldnt dream of taking honors
Gospels in Action
AP Enviromental Action
Honors Chemistry
Ap English III

As far as the sat goes....I really need some help
Im taking the Princeton Review Total Prep class ... which I think is helping a little Im trying the act in October as well
Thanks for any further comments

Chillin; it's kind of funny that I have almost the same numbers as you (except my weighted GPA is a bit higher), and I'm thinking about applying to USC this fall... Anyway, according to what others have told me in my threads, you have a chance of getting in, but it's not a great one. But, you're only a junior, so you still have time this year to bump up that GPA! If you do that, your chances will grow more favorable, although writing a kick-ass essay wouldn't hurt either. Good luck (to the both of us)! =)
