Hi, I was wondering what you guys thought of my chances were! (Yes i know its a long shot!)

I am white guy from California. I go to a very good high school. I moved from England to America at the age of 10. I believe I will be majoring in Economics/Mathematics.

Extracurricular Activities/Sports:
-4 year varsity tennis - captain
-Spanish/Math/Chem Club
- Pep Band
- Class Representive
- 100 hours community service

Past Jobs:
-Assistant Tennis Pro (20 hours a week during summer for four years)

Awards:
-Tennis DFAL All-Team League
-Student of Excellence
-National Spanish Exam highest honors
-Earth Team: Visual and Voices (Photography exhibited)

Money probably is not as big an issue to me as it is to others, but if I got into a top UC, I would probably go there. My big dillema would be if I got into a school like Santa Barbara for 20k or Michigan for 40k.

goblue - I have the same stats too! Except I took the ACT (29), but hey, that's the same as a 1300 on the SAT, and I got basically the exact same GPA.

Thank God, I thought I was the only one around here with those stats. It seems like its either people with a 2.8gpa wanting sympathy or people with a 2350 SAT wanting symaythy around here! Where else are you applying?

I'd say Michigan is a reach for you, but a realistic reach. The mean unweighed GPA for out of staters is about 3.8 and the mean SAT for out of staters is about 1340. So you are slightly under the mean, but you are certainly in the range.

Dwade, I would definitely stay in California and pay in-state tuition if he got into Cal and UCLA, maybe even UCSD, but not for the rest of the UCs.

UMICH is cool, great campus school,etc..(heard from friends), and ur a strong candidate, write some polished essays and ur chances are solid
dont let ur SAT, GPA deter u
good luck
