Chances

I'm currently a hispanic high school Junior in Atlanta, but am very interested in attending Tufts. I know it's still fairly early, but I'm think of double majoring in Political Science(or IR) and philosophy. Here are some objective stats:

School
weighted gpa: 3.9
unweighted 3.69 (low I know, but for freshman year I attended a pre-IB program which heavily weighted difficult classes before transferring to parochial school for financial reasons)
AP classes classes: 8 total, AP World, (5 on exam) APUSH, AP Comp Gov (senior level I'm currently enrolled in as a junior), AP English Comp, AP English Lit (Sr), AP Psych (Sr), AP Euro(Sr), AP Macro Econ (Sr)
Honors Classes: English, Chemistry, and Spanish 3 as a sophomore
Honors: Principal's list (weighted cumulative gpa of 95% or greater) 2 semesters, 1 semester of Honor Roll (weighted cumulative 90% or greater)

Scores
ACT: 28 (first time without extended time to which I'm entitled, retaking in April)
SAT I: not yet taken but with 203 on PSAT probably Hispanic Merit Scholar
SAT II: World History 800, Literature and Chemistry (later this summer)

E.C.'s and scholastic involvement
Newspaper Staff writer, Captain of Model U.N./ Model Arab League team (I have participated in MUN since freshman year, and have attended international conferences and won a delegate award) Co-Captain Debate Team and letterman (since sophmore year, finalist at a local tournament and broken in 5 others), Academic Honor Council (student body which is nominated to judge honor code violations), tutor at a local elementary school in English, volunteer at another local school library, was a lead in training at my summer camp in 2008, member of my school's human rights club, and have been published in my school's award winning literary magazine

Extra: I am Mexican American, an excellent student in the humanities and english, and am dyslexic. I'm a fairly good writer and have overcome my learning disability to achieve a fair amount of scholastic success. My great grandfather also received his M.D. from Tufts as a second generation immigrant from Ireland (I know it's a tenuous connection to the school, but still worth mentioniong)

I'm sorry if I have written alot, but if anyone can give me feedback on my stats thusfar I would very greatly appreciate it, as well as being more than amenable to providing feedback on other "chance" threads.

also my PSAT: CR 77 (highest, latest was 76) W 72, M 55

On the objective factors, your GPA is okay, but not overwhelming, your ACT is weak (although I suspect you’ll do better on the next go-round), and your PSAT math score is very poor. That last one could be a big problem.
You won’t be considered any sort of legacy applicant, but you’ve got an interesting personal story, which could provide a valuable hook.
Good luck

I think you have a very good chance, I was accepted with 3.65 GPA and a 2090 SAT. The reason I love Tufts sooo much is that number are not as important as the individual (just look at all the options on the application!). Write a kick ass essay letting them know who you really are, what you are involved in and what you are passionate about. They want people who want to be there, so let them know why you think Tufts is where you want to be. Remember you have a lot to offer, if you know that they will see it! Good luck :)
