Chances?

<p>I applied ED and as you can imagaine i am sitting here biting my nails off, lossing sleep, and going aboslutley crazy waiting…Barnard is my one and only, obviously i have other schools to apply to, but i can see myself at Barnard. anyone have thoughts on my chances based on these stats?</p>

<p>SAT:
verbal: 720
Math: 640
Writing: 680</p>

<p>ACT composite: 30</p>

<p>GPA: 3.7, not taking science this year (took physics last year, skipped earth science) am taking AP statistics instead of calculus. I am in my fifth year of spanish, first/second (its an accelerated course) of german, and fourth year of latin, strong upward trend in grades junior year</p>

<p>Activities:
-member of high school rowing team all four years (also some summer rowing)
-ballet, tap, jazz dance lessons since I was three
-best buddies club junior year
-began volunteering at nursing home as friendly visitor this summer, also began volunteering at NYS Museum
-member of national honor society</p>

<p>Awards:
-Health department award
-Junior certificate of merit in latin
-two gold awards from national latin exam, '04, '05 (highest award possible)</p>

<p>Misc:
wrote my essay as a short story about experience as nursing home volunteer, also i had an interview, went ok nothing spectacular, and I attend an extremley competitive, nationally-ranked public school</p>

<p>it sounds like you have a shot- your boards and grades are on par with what the school wants...these days, it's hard to tell though- it sounds like practically every applicant is qualified. You've definitely improved your chances by applying early. Are you planning to row for Columbia?- that would increase your chances about ten-fold of getting in. Barnard also has a great dance program...by capitalizing on things like these, then I would say that you def. have a shot- anyway, it sounds like there's not much worth in mulling over your chances now...it's kind of all like a crapshoot, you know?...good luck!</p>

<p>haha i know!!! this week has the potential to be the best [and worst] week of my life. i'm planning on buying cartons of ben&jerry's to either console myself or celebrate. =P</p>
