chances?

I feel kind of lame asking for this, but could you chance me for Cornell's ED? Im a junior at a small, under-funded, public high school in Alabama with less than 250 students. I plan to major in electrical engineering.

GPA: uw-3.4
w-3.52 (a little ashamed of that.)
ACT: 29 (not super scored. Will take again)
Class Rank: top 20%
My ASVAB electrical knowledge test was a 98 (I mention this because of my desired major.)
EC's: -varsity cross country 2 years (3 including middle school) MVP 2 years. State qualifier 2 years
-Varsity Track and field 2 years. State qualifier 1 year.
-High School Marching and Concert Band since 8th grade. 1st chair trumpet and brass captain.
-Captain of varsity scholars bowl 4 years. Acting coach 1 year.
-JROTC Battalion Commander
-Countless hours of community service through the Alabama trails association. 9 hours a day every month since I was 4 years old. I'm very passionate about long distance hiking. (140+ miles.)

I've taken every AP course and honors course my school has offered, and will continue my senior year.

Additional information:-attended a pre college program at Emory University and took a neuroscience course
-Have a full tuition NROTC scholarship
-Play most every instrument you can think of fairly proficiently. Primaries are Trumpet, percussion, guitar, bass, and piano. Also, I write songs and sing.
-Umm... I had to testify against my brother in his murder trial. That's interesting, and I've heard colleges like interesting stuff. (He's schizophrenic)

I really love the school, and when I visited, I was in awe due to its beautiful campus. It just seems like a perfect fit, and I know that I belong there.

Forgot to mention that I’m going on a 19 day European tour as a student ambassador. I will be traveling to Ireland, Wales, England, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Unless you are a URM, it’s probably not worth it with your stats. I would aim a bit lower.

And I wouldn’t mention the schizophrenia thing. Schizophrenia has a strong familial concordance.

Well below average ACT & GPA, chances slim as stats stand now unless you are a URM

Thanks for the quick response guys. What do you think some more realistic schools for my stats would be?
Also, it runs on my brothers fathers side. We have different fathers.

Honestly, you sound like an interesting person and if you could write a couple really good essays you’d have a decent shot early.

That said, you have a much better chance at schools like Notre Dame, Vandy, UVA, UNC and most other top state schools. those places also have really good ROTC cadres if i remember right

^ Op is from Alabama. He/she has no chance of getting in to UVA and UNc CH with those stats. Vanderbilt is also probably unrealistic and Notre dame is a reach.

You should look at university of michigan, Illinois Urbana champaign, and purdue. All have highly respected engineering programs you your stats fall into the ranges for those schools. More so if you can get your ACT up to 31 or higher.

Just to clarify, I’m white. I know. It’s unfortunate. Haha
