<p>EC: Volunteered at Hope Services Helped Mentally Disabled Teens for a Whole Year (Soph Year + 2nd Semester of Jr Year)</p>

<p>Jazz Band: 2 Years</p>

<p>Percussion Ensemble: 3 Years</p>

<p>Robotics: This coming year</p>

<p>Volunteered at my Church every year since 6th grade til now (i play an instrument and help with the music) </p>

<p>VP of National Honors Society</p>

<p>Director in Ethnic Club where profits go to charity</p>

<p>I want to major in Engineering (prob Mech) and if it helps im of Asian descent. I visited the campus and I was amazed. This is definitely one of my first choices if I get accepted. However, I am out of state so I wonder how this impacts admissions.

<p>You have a good chance at getting in to UW. Try to raise you SAT I to ~1900 and take the ACT too. If you can do that, then you have a good chance at going to UCLA or Berkeley for engineering instead, and you can save money. Other than that, write some good essays for UW. I’ve seen good essays help many kids with far lower SAT scores and GPAs get in.</p>

<p>I would raise ur SAT to about 2000 especially since ur coming from out of state. But other than that you have a really good chance</p>

<p>Thanks for the replies! What are the stats for direct admission into their department so I have an idea on what I need to get on the SAT.</p>

<p>here’s what i understand with OOS, and someone correct me if I’m wrong
you need a 3.7+ GPA and an 1850+ SAT to be considered competitive.
as far as extracurriculars, if you have passion, and have given back to the community (shown leadership), you’re golden.</p>
