Chances

Hi,
So I really want to apply to one of the Ivy League schools, and I was wondering about my chances... I haven't taken any standardized tests yet, I will do so this October and November, but right now, my IB grades consist of only 6s and 7s; three 7s including ToK, and four 6s. So that would probably add up to about 41 predicted with the ToK and EE, 38 without. Do the SATs play such a significant role in the admissions process? I also have a lot of extracurriculars, as well as being the Head Boy for my school in my junior year (I'm going into my senior year). Extracurricular activities: swimming (100m freestyle winner), basketball, volleyball (coaches award), MUN (delegate, ambassador, chair), and MEP (Model European Parliament, very exclusive and semi official, only students who win nationals have a chance to go, and I was chosen from my school), tech crew for musicals/performances, lead guitar, bass guitar, drums, electronic music production, dj-ing, among others... I will be applying as an international student in need of financial aid... I was born and raised in Turkey and always attended an international school, but i'm not Turkish, and not an American citizen either. Do I have a chance, based on everything listed above? Most of the Ivy League schools have a need-based financial aid system...

I am planning to go into Economics, International Relations and Affairs, or Political Science & Government.

So I’m thinking about Brown (especially), Princeton, Harvard, UPenn, and Dartmouth.

Last year in the Pre-IB programme, I received an award for citizenship, and highest GPA with one 6 and the rest 7s, but because of my efforts to improve school life as a Head Boy this year, I couldn’t spend as much time studying…

Its impossible to tell without your GPA or any SAT scores, both of which are arguably the two most important factors of your application.

well we don’t really use the GPA system with the IB… we use IB points, for which i have a 41/45 at the moment
