Please be brutally honest--what are my chances of being admitted to GWU?

-3.0 gpa un-weighted--all AP and honor classes in the humanities, grade level courses for science and math, and rigorous elective
-Spent 6 weeks at GW last summer and took two college level courses along side GW students; received an A in my Arab-Israeli Conflict Class and a B+ in my Writing Class ( I have a GW transcript)
-My Arab-Israeli Conflict Professor wrote me a letter of recommendation (he is the former head of the political science dept at GW)
-Founder and President of Jewish Heritage Club at high school (largest student organization in school--planned events such as brining in a Holocaust survivor and former WH press sec. Ari Fleischer)
-Won several awards/honors in Model Congress Club--was elected chief of Club Marketing
-Writer and editor for school newspaper, member of Mock Trial, Debate Club,
-Tons of comm service hours, active member in temple youth group
-Varsity Ski Team, Lacrosse
-24 ACT Composite (34 in reading, 29 writing)--other scores suck (was having a bad day ha-ha)
-live right outside New York City

Many students who attended the same GW program as me, but had less impressive stats got in ED1--however I am applying ED 2. I am extremely nervous and would really appreciate any thoughts or advice!

So you are a RD applicant and your GPA is 3.0 and ACT is 24. Those are relatively low numbers. But the college program and ED 2 raise your chances slightly. I think it will be pretty tough. American is probably a better fit.

I understand. However thus far everyone from the program who applied got in. One person had a 2.8 gpa and a 27 on the ACT, and got a B in the college level course I got an A in. That gave me hope haha..I still feel uneasy though

I know GW is a perfect fit for me--I've already done really well there and, I'm an A student w\ all AP classes this year (unfortunately Sr. year is not is not on my transcript)--I am sending report cards though

well on the positive side i don't think GWs admissions standards are any harder on EDII than EDI students---and GWU middle 50% of admitted students not matriculants(misleading stat) had anywhere from a 25 to a 30 on the ACT-so your JUST below the middle 50% of scores---its not like your way out there---but GWU is going insane with admssions selectivity(they can do this b/c more people keep on applying in greater numebrs-they have one of the largest applicant pools in the country)--so i don't know how hardcore they're going to be on admissions this year----well anyways if you get in it will in the end rely completely on the subjectives which are looking pretty good for you with your recs and everything----however if you are interested in international realtions which it sounds kinda like you are American has a much better/ well known IR school---even though people think GWU's is better just beacuse its GWU- but they get confused just beacuse GWU is the better overall school

American might be a good alternative since your grades and ACT are below average. You live in NY and only took the ACT? Most NYers take the SAT first and ACT second.

Rsood's statistic is WAY off- WashU's average ACT is more like a 30---its more like a 26 average for GW---don't go by GW's stat online- its misleading- they publish stats of admitted students- not matriculants-- alot of really well qualified people apply to GW, but choose to go to a better school if they are admitted to one elsewhere

accepted average is 30, the stat that matters! If you want to get accepted to this school then the average ACT is 30! who cares about the other stat
