Ok my last post was obviously not easy on the eyes! So I'll break it down. I am an international graduate applying for a second bachelors in GS next year.

STATS:

sat-(based on mocks should score at 2300-ish)

subject tests- (700 range)

high school exit exam- all a's and b's

university gpa- 3.0 (other year's performance was much better, my gpa got ruined after medical leave and other problems I will address in my essay)

life- studying independently in the area I'm applying for, setting up a business, travelling and doing charity work and generally getting better after my illness.

I'm 25 and and love the appreciation for the ''non-traditional path'' to college that GS is about, and think it's perfect for me. Anyone think I'm in with a shot?

should mention that I am applying to a science subject and in the process of setting up my company I have worked in laboratory settings and in conjunction with biochemists, don’t know if this is relevant work experience in the field but there ya go

I think your essay needs to be really really compelling because of your GPA and you also need great letters of recommendation. Also, remember that GS asks fro a 100/120 in the iBT TOEFL exam which you must take. You should really demonstrate that you can excel in what you do and that you are passionate about what you want to study. I won’t say you are a show in because most students with that GPA get rejected but some do get in so yes you have a chance.

Also when you say “other year’s performance was much better” what do you mean? you are suppose to present your complete unweighted GPA of all the time you have been in an specific institution.

KEYS:
Essay: Must address your life experience and how you have used every opportunity you have had in front of you ,should really be compelling and/or show logic that you deserve to enter an IVY league institution

Letters of recommendation: You really need good ones that show a deeper insight into who you are and what you are capable of doing. If you are applying next year you should cultivate good relationships with the prospective writers of the letters…(basically try to positively impress them and show that you excel at what you do)

Hope that helps!
