chances for columbia GS!

International student applying for second bachelors to columbia school of general studies, strong personal essay with valid reasons for drop in gpa in the last 2 years of college

STATS:

sat-(based on mocks should score at 2300-ish)

subject tests- (700 range)

high school exit exam- all a's and b's

university gpa- 3.0 (other year's performance was much better, my gpa got ruined after medical leave and other problems I will address in my essay)

life- studying independently in the area I'm applying for, setting up a business, travelling and doing charity work and generally getting better after my illness.

I'm 25 and and love the appreciation for the ''non-traditional path'' to college that GS is about, and think it's perfect for me. Anyone think I'm in with a shot?

also I’m applying to science and have worked in laboratory settings and in consultation with chemists for my business, if that helps in terms of experience in the field.

With a 3.0, Columbia is highly unlikely. If you think you can explain your GPA, then apply - however, most candidates will likely have 3.7+.

most people wont have a university gpa as they’ll probably be applying for the first time to college, no? This is a second bachelors for me. Also an admissions agent for GS said they need a B average for applications, which is what I have. Hmm…Thanks for the response!
