chances....

I got waitlisted at Wash U… is there any reason left to hope that I made it in to Brown?

(I don’t feel like putting up all my stats, but I have really good SATs, pretty good GPA…)

Do you feel that your essays were better for Brown than for Wash U? Because essays can make a big difference.

Also, just saying that you have really good SATs is not enough, because everybody has really good SAT scores. It is hard to evaluate your chances since you haven't posted additional information (like your exact GPA, ec, courses, ...)

Sorry for the lack of info before... I didn't sleep last night and I was bored and anxious enough to post, but rather lazy. I know that saying I had good SAT's doesn't mean much... so sorry about that.

Stats:

* SAT: 790CR, 740M, 740W
* SAT IIs: Bio-760, Chem-750, Lit-780
* GPA: 3.8 (With all AP and honors classes)
* Rank: my school doesn't rank
* Other stats: National Merit Finalist, 5 on all APs....

Subjective:

* Essays: interesting. if nothing else, they'll probably remember them.
* Teacher Recs: awesome (so they've said anyhow)
* Counselor Rec: good
* Hook (if any):

Location/Person:

* State or Country: Indiana
* School Type: Public boarding school for "gifted kids" Haha. doesn't get much odder than that.
* Ethnicity: white
* Gender: female

I know I'm not extraordinary, and at best Brown is a long shot for me. But I'm just asking... does anyone think I have any shot at all?

if your essays and recs are really good and your ecs are pretty good i feel like you should definitely have a shot. could go either way, which is much better than most people can say

Don't feel bad. Wash U seems content to put everyone and their dog on the waitlist. They really have things messed up over there. I know people waitlisted by Wash U who got into upper ivies (Yale). Best of luck to you (and me I hope) in getting into Brown.

I actually am surprised that you got waitlisted at WashU... your chances at Brown are solid nontheless. Good luck.

Don't sweat the waitlist. From what I've read on the WUStL board they waitlisted some stellar candidates, so you're in good company!

Haha. I kind of wish that I had never hoped. Rejected. Rejected by brown, rejected by JHU, wait-listed at Wash U. Grrrr.

I haven't taken SAT yet, but plan to in Dec
Have taken a practice one and scored 1860/2400 (I'll bring it up on the real one)

ummm could i ask how you are ranked 9th with a 4.0 unweighted?

sorry, it's more like a 3.9. I go to a small, college prep school, it's pretty competitive

you seem to have a lot of awards/honors/extracurriculars...but i heard that brown likes people who are really passionate about a few things. that's what i've heard though, don't quote me
