chances

Ok, so I know there are a lot of people on here who are asking about their chances for admission, and usually those are those types of discussions don’t have many replies. But I’m extremely interested in DePaul, as it is my first choice school and really my dream school.

I’m kind of a chill girl; I don’t really care much for partying but I’m down for a party if I’m feeling it. I’m much better with reading and english than math and science. I’m big on philosophy and quasi-spiritual. Just wanted to include that because I will probably discuss how some stints with depression and anxiety have influenced my views. I’m a senior this year btw.

My high school credentials:

  • I’m trying to remember back to my freshmen and sophomore year but by the time I’ll graduate I will have taken 5-6 Honors classes.
    -4 AP Classes
    • AP Lang: scored a 4
      -AP Chemistry : scored a 2. Like I said, math/science isn’t my strength
-AP Literature: taking this year but probably around a 4.
    • AP French: taking this year as well
-I took 4 years of Honors French and am now taking AP. It’s a strength for me and I want to pursue a French Language and Literature minor degree.

-Between a 3.3-3.4 GPA; was not great freshmen and sophomore year and when I took AP Chem, it was a bloodbath. Really hard for me lol, and I averaged a C-. At least I passed.

  • 27 on ACT
-Have not and will not take SAT

Extra-Cirriculars:

  • I have been hugely involved with a program unaffiliated with my school called School of Rock. I’m not sure if anyone reading this is familiar, but it’s a performance-based school of music. Basically, you take music lessons and then perform shows every 3 months. However, I’ve gone way up and beyond that. I’ve been involved with the school for 7 years, and have done lots of volunteer work within the school because I am a part of the school’s highly competitive auditioned group for the past 3 years. We go on tour, and it’s for committed students to work with one another in an environment that facilitates creative freedom. Within the school I have done multiple clubs and volunteer work:
  • Vocal club (auditioned a cappella group)
  • Hip Hop Club
  • Assistant directed the 101 program for the little little kids, and assistant directed the Summer shows multiple times.
  • Right now, I am assistant directing one of the seasonal shows, so I’m basically directing kids of high school age.
  • I also did French Club for all 4 years but School of Rock has taken up much of my time considering I spend about 10 hours there during the week.
  • I also held a part-time job in which I worked about 15 hours a week during the time of my junior and senior years.

Recommendations:

  • I have recommendations coming from my AP Language teacher who really appreciated me for my unique writing style and philosophical argumentation style. I’m going for an English or Poli Sci major so. I have a rec letter coming from the Director of Music at the School of Rock. And of course, one from my counselor.

Again, this is my first choice school, and the possibility of being deferred is kind of eating me up lol. None of these “calculate your chances” websites really give an accurate reading in my opinion, so if anyone could help me out, it would be MUCH appreciated.

I am applying EA.

Thanks.

You’ll definitely get in, you should have no concerns at all
