Hello! You have an exceptional record. Do not compare yourself to the other records on this site. Many are posted simply to obtain more affirmation. The acceptance rate at Georgetown is 16.9%, however your ACT score puts you above the 75th percentile for ACT scores. Nice! George Washington seems a definite considering their acceptance rate of 39.5%. Something to consider is to emphasize your work in the nursing home, campaign or time as a pianist at church. These are the activities that will set you apart. How do they speak to your character? That being said, you state that you want to focus on finance or international relations. Why? How will you emphasize this? Learn everything you can about their finance and intl. relations programs. Infuse this information into your essays. Check out the Essays that Work on the Johns Hopkins website. Many of their essay authors do a lovely job of this. Good luck!
I think you will most likely get into George Washington and you seem to have a pretty good chance for Georgetown too, just keep working hard and make sure those essays are great
Thanks, I just had one final question. Based on my resume, what would be the top college I could get into. I’m really bad at telling where I can go so I would appreciate it if someone could tell me. Thx
Georgetown would be on your upper end, but it’s possible. I’d compare Georgetown, in terms of acceptance difficulty, to places like Tufts or Vanderbilt, so you might consider those as some other good reach-ish options. While I would characterize Georgetown as a reach for you because of your GPA, it’s very possible. I think you’re likely to get in at GW, maybe apply to AU just as another option if you want to be in DC. Also, you shouldn’t feel restricted to the DC area if you want to go into politics, most urban centers will have a lot of state reps and otherwise offices where you could work to get into politics and relations.
