Desire to be an Aerospace Engineer. All my grades aside from math are above a 92, with math being a solid C+ averaged out. I know this will certainly effect me, but my hope is that performing well on the AB AP exam will help. How hard will this grade in math effect my chances?

College choices are:

North Carolina State University
University of California Irvine
University of Washington - Seattle
University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign
University of Michigan
University of Maryland - College Park
Ohio State University
University of Florida & Central Florida.

I apologize for the length of this.

Edit: forgot a college and e.c.

OOS for UCs will be a reach plus it’s going to be expensive-assuming this based on your info. Michigan is a reach based on GPA and projected test scores as well.

What is your home state? Safety school?

PSAT subsection scores are not in increments of 5. Are those scores correct?

Thank you for your reply, really appreciate it. I’m a Vermont resident, so University of Vermont is my safety school, along with Virginia Tech.

I’m fortunate enough that cost isn’t a major concern with attending OOS schools, so don’t really worry about factoring that in.

As for the PSAT score, that was what was given to me by my school counselor, as he didn’t provide me with my scoring sheet(the one containing all the questions you answered and breakdown of score, etc.). I’ll check in with him again as that doesn’t sound right, thank you for informing me.

“Desire to be an Aerospace Engineer.”

You should work very hard to try to pull up your grades in math. You should get tutoring, and make an effort to understand why it all works the way that it does. Math is very important for engineering, and is an area where everything that you learn will build up from what you have learned in the past.

UVM is a very good school in a very attractive location.
