Activities Outside the School:
I probably spend most of my times at my church: (Activity coordinator, choreographer for the big events, Youth Group leader, and Bible Study Teacher)
As you can see, I have tons of things to plan out, and coordinate. I have to go to church every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, and do my duties until late night. But I love what I'm doing. This also counted as community service hours so it really benefited me. (around 300 hours)
Community Service Program- helping out the people who have dementia and who are blinds, give them some activities to do, and we also play with them. (around 100 hours so far)

Anyways, on the practice SAT I got 2,000, but my goal is around (2100-2200)
SAT II: KOREAN (750+), US HISTORY (going to take soon), PHYSICS (maybe), and MATH 2C

What is my chance of getting into MIT! I AM WORKING SO HARD! I JUST WISH THE COLLEGE APPLICANTS CAN SEE WHAT I AM ACHIEVING RIGHT NOW!!! HELP ME OUT!
MIT PHD Candidate told me I have a really good chance!

A good chance if you don't burn out before you get there. Get some sleep!

you only get 3 hrs of sleep everyday!!! it's not worth it

Wow, you can be the next Donald Trump! He doesn't sleep too much either. But Mr. Trump did not go to MIT, he went to the Wharton School at UPenn.

What school starts at 6 am?! O_o

I'm going to redirect to this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=205635

But anyways, you have amazing stats. =].

oh, ew.

take a nap or something, geez.

MIT will not take people who have bad time management ;) my suggestion is that you should never mention that you don't have enough sleep to your interviewer or write it on the application.

Well, you must take a science SAT II, so "maybe" is not an excuse. Yeah, you need at least 150+ on your SAT.

Umm, dang. You're pretty hardcore about not sleeping...I can't believe you seriously do this! XD

He's lying, theres no way he could be a runner on 3 hours of sleep. A good one anyways.

lol why would i be lying. it's hard to believe but it's true. I was kind of taught this way to manage my time really well and keep myself really busy.

petey: you're a goof.

Haha, you studied that much and got a 2000? I would take a long hard look at my life, and then take a 37 hour nap.

kid's starting his junior year. give him a break

i dont study that much... if u look at the schedule, i do most of ther extracurriculm activity stuff..... because i like it... because i don't have that much to study im not getting like straight A's..... jeez im not trying to show off... i just want to see if i'm qualified

peteyflow - short answer to your question: Yes, you are qualified. What that means is that the admission committee will not immediately throw out your application and will actually give it a serious read. That's the good news. The bad news is that there are thousands (and maybe 10,000's) of applicants just like you who will have their apps read carefully. If you end up getting in, congratulations, but if you don't, please understand that MIT (and other top schools) can afford to kick out all the kids they admit in any given year and admit another class of the same size with virtually no decrease in the quality of the student population. It doesn't mean that you're not 'smart enough' for MIT. If you are smart, hardworking, and a bit lucky, you will end up succeeding no matter wherever you end up going to college.

Ok, now I have a question of my own:
I'm new to CC, and I've noticed that there are a lot of these 'chance threads' where an applicant puts up his/her resume and asks (presumably other students or parents) to assess his/her chances of admissions. I don't understand the purpose of these threads, because it seems to me that nobody can give you any accurate measure of your chances if you're reasonably well-qualified. It's easy to give an assessment of one's chances when he/she is obviously underqualified, like if he/she has a GPA of i (the square root of -1) and has more criminal convictions than AP classes taken, but for pretty much everyone who posts on these threads, there is no way to assess their chances.

If you've started a chance thread and actually found replies to be helpful to your application, please let me know, because there might be benefits that I don't realize. This isn't meant to sound sarcastic ... I really am curious :)

Phil, you might be interested in Jessie's thread about why chances threads are pointless. I think the two of you have a lot to agree about. :)

If yu're only getting 3 hrs of sleep per night you'll kill yourself before you get there. Nothing is worth that. I'm glad you're helping your church and your community, but you might want to take it a little easier.

And hate to break it to you, but if you're Asian and only have a 2100 on the SAT, MIT is a long shot. Your ECs are excellent and may offset that, but be warned. don't get me wrong: you clearly are qualified; it's just that many other students will have similar qualifications. MIT will only admit you if they're sure you can do the work, and it seems you can, but you'll be up against students who can do what you're doing and still get 6-7 hrs of sleep per night.

How the hell are you a 3 sport athlete with an MVP award in one sport but only get 3 hours of sleep!!!! Also I dont see practice in your schedule!!!!! Football and Basketball are usually 2-3 hours and I know track is like 2 b/c I run track.

Somehow I really doubt you go by this schedule every single day!!! After maybe 3 days (63 hours) of this how do you really not feel burnt out????

Don't basketball and track all in spring season? How do you get to do both?
