CHances

I am an out of state student. I rank in the top 33% of my class and I have a 3.3 GPA and 1130 on the SAT. What do you think of my chances of admission and what could I do to improve my chances. Thanks, Justin

Hi Justin!
I won't venture to guess at chances because I have no inside info on what goes on in admissions LOL , but I just wanted to recommend that you apply early. Last year there were so many qualified applicants that USC offered Spring admission to some students.
Apply early and I wish you the best. My d loves USC ( she will be a soph this Fall)

yea i figured I'd have to apply early to have a solid shot. thanks for the input. does anybody else have any info or thoughts

man im getting no love here in this thread. no replies at all

hey there, jhollr19! Sorry about the lack of love.

I think you have a good shot at admissions. 40% of the students were below the top 25% of their class. You are in the mid 50% of their SAT range (about 1060 is the bottom 25% cutoff). Your gpa is on the weak side, compared to their average, which is 3.8. But gpa is largely dependent on school track record. So your 3.3 would be viewed in light of the strength of your school. USC is trying to boost its reputation and visibility out of state, so the fact that you are OOS is actually a point in your favor.

What can you do to improve your chances? Apply early. And good luck !
