Your EC's seem fine as you did more than me. A 204 PSAT is not "definitely commended" as someone in my school got a 206 and he was not commended. You don't seem to have that many AP's but perhaps your school doesn't offer that many. Write a good essay that accentuates your interests, which appear to be science and language.

204 is definitely commended in Michigan. It varies from state to state, and theres no way im out of the range. I took as many AP classes as i could. You dont really take AP until senior year. Theres an honors sequence which is supposed to prepare you for AP. Im taking three next year along with organic chemistry at a community college.

204 is commended? Wow, that's really different from California. But anyways, grades and test scores look fine. ECs look pretty good, especially if you're an engineering student that has already won awards at science fairs; Hopkins is a research institute afterall. Plus being the founder of the medical club definitely helps. Work on your essays and find the right recommendations.

alg. 2 as a junior may hurt you

why would that hurt me?

because by junior year most people are taking ap calc already, not everone, but still a lot...also, alg 2 is not a difficult course and colleges look to see that you're taking hard courses

PKswmr76, I don't know how you can say most people are taking AP Calculus as a junior. In NY, they have a "different" cirriculum so I don't really know what Algebra 2 is, but as a junior, most people in NY take pre-calculus.

Yeah, good point Yanks, most people at Hopkins that I know did something like Algebra 2-->Trigonometry-->AP Calc BC or AB as a senior.

well for a number of different reasons, my parents wouldnt let me take honors math despite my protests. That is just the regular math sequence for kids in my school. Do you think my ACT math scores will off set that. Also, do you think i should retake my SAT 2 chem test?

Don't retake SAT IIs. That's a waste of money. I wouldn't worry about the math either.

It's 740. There's no reason to retake.
