Hey, I jsut wanted to know my chances at PC. help please!

My grades aren't great. Last year it was about an 82 average, this year I have all A's, should bring my average up to an 84/85 or so.
Also, i go to the supposed #1 public school in the country (as ranked by the Wall street journal), so maybe that would help.

SAT- 2190
sat II biology- 710

6 AP classes
-5 on AP AB Calc
-4 on U.S. History
plus I'm taking two advanced language courses at a college near my high school; received A's in both classes.

EC's
drama, violin, piano, track, yearbook, 4 part-time jobs. lots of other random things. not extremely strong list, but fairly solid.

Volunteering
80+ hours, won't list every single activity but theres around 10 or so.

Strong common app. essay explaining how my school's competitive environment had a negative effect on my motivation to learn, and how that changed as i got older.

sorry if this is too vague. any help is appreciated! thanks in advance.

Your SATs are terrific so be sure to submit them. As you know, PC is SAT optional.

PC weighs your grades and curriculum VERY highly, so while your SATs will help, you may have some issue w/ your gpa. So, considering that, if you have some reason your grades were OK but not great, you may want to explain that. The rigor of your high school curriculum should count for a lot. I would definately use the PC supplemental essay to show why PC is the place you want to be.

Overall, I would have to believe w/ your profile you will get in, but make every effort to show why PC is a place you want to be and give them every reason to overlook your OK but not great grades.

Hope that helps.

YTou may also want to visit PC's website and l;ok mat the admissions blogs there. They are VERY informative.

I think that you should definitely submit your SAT scores, they are terrific.
An 82 is not great, but you say that you have all A's this year, so they will like that you are showing improvement. Your EC's are well-rounded with music, sports, yearbook, etc. And your essay topic sounds good. I would accept you.
