I am an intended History major and literature minor...my grades freshman year were ok-ish but skyrocketed soph. year and this year i have straight A's...all Honors/AP in all possible classes
What are my chances for penn?

I would say you have a good chance.

You've got stats similar to mine (I got in), but make sure to bring up that GPA. Also, I'm not seeing what your passion is, be sure to work on showing that through ECs.

my passion is history...im planning on writing a paper and submitting it to the Concord Review...would that be a good EC?

bump........

good chances so far, but remember to continue to build ECs and keep the GPA up.

good chance :)

legacy and good marks could be good chance... but non-negligible possibility of being rejected due to no "passion" try to find something to focus on...

as of now i'd say 50-50

Of course, legacy counts the most if you apply ED.

thanks a lot! yes, i know about legacy basically counting ONLY if you apply ED...I will be doing so. Also to elaborate on my "passions" they are history (in academics) and cheerleading. Cheerleading is a sport in season for 8 months (August-March) plus tumbling in the spring and I coach the younger (6th grade) girls in the fall for 2 hrs 3x per week after my own (every day) practices. History is my favorite subject, I read alot of history on my own and have taken 2 APs (world/US) and will self-study Euro next year in addition to writing a paper to submit to the Concord Review. Are these good indicators of "passion"?
