My grandpa, who raised me when I was little, died my soph year and caused my grades to deteriorate (2 Cs)

Overkill for SD in general, but could vary if you are applying for engineering. Are any top privates in your sights?

I'm applying arts and letters. And yes, I'm going to apply to some privates as well as UCLA and Berkeley

you'll totally get in
your SATs are amazing

bump again

aww crap. My overall GPA after this year might end up being a 3.4 UW, 3.77 UC. Am I screwed?

3.41 UW, 3.77 UC, 4.05 W, 2330 SAT I, 790 for both SAT II's

In at UCSD, No Cal, No UCLA. Just a thought. Class of 2008.

Not necessarily. Make sure you have volunteer hours up to 100 from 9-12 to get 150 points. The number of a-g is high to get 500 points. For UCSD, SAT and GPA sometimes are not the whole picture.

UCSD Freshman Comprehensive Review Process (Dec 2004)

meh, i have 300+ hours. for the A-G thing, that's total A-G corses for all semesters right?

Wow I have about 9,000

OVER 9000 (for anyone that got that reference)

I believe it's for semesters.

U need good gap

this year's UCLA avg was 4.3 (something like that)

can u believe that?? -___-'
(don't know about UCSD though)

well....my only advice is that if you are a computer, you should stop all the downloadin.

Yeah UCLA's average GPA was a 4.34 this year (4.16 UC). I know the average UCSD UC GPA was a 4.06, but I'm not sure about the total weighted GPA.

huh, well I used the formula hing to calculate my score. It's about 8000. Is that enough?

It should be. In the last few years it was around 7500+. Make sure you do the application in such a way that adcom don't miss your EC's and activities. In the past, they have made numerous mistakes.

How would I structure it then?

I don't know but the UC application interface is very limiting. There is not a lot of room to expand your activities and you may think it's not important to put something. Just make sure you load the activities list in the Additional section.

write a killer essay too..with your ec's it could definitely be something amazing that sets you out differently than everyone else

dont wait too long to think about your essay either, the deadline sneaks up on you
