I've posted this on another thread, but the response is more or less the same in every case:

It's impossible to say whether or not you'll get into any given college. For example, my cousin was admitted into Princeton University, but she was not accepted at Clemson University (in South Carolina). So, it's hard to say, really.

You have a decent ACT score, you're near the top of your class, and you have an impressive array of extra curriculars. If you can eloquently showcase yourself in your admissions essays, I would say you have a very high chance of admission, especially if you apply early decision (2012 class early rate: 42%; regular; 23%).

Best of luck and have a pleasant senior year!

If you have any questions, feel free to email.

Davidson '12

I really want to go to Davidson. Ever since I moved to North Carolina it has been on the top of my list. I'm just very concerned about by ACT score, although I know that it is shown as the least important piece of the admission process.

I know it's a stressful time, but seriously, don't sweat it.

My dirty little secret? I don't deserve to be at this school. I was barely in the top half of my class and my SAT scores were only just above average (~1350+700 Writing).

People hate hearing this (I know I did), but even if you don't get in, it's not the end of the world. I was DYING to go to Harvard, this past year. My father went there, and my rejection letter was quite a blow. But I'm REALLY happy here. I love everything about this school and feel like I'm getting a better education from professors who care than from Teachers Assistants and Graduate Students subbing in for their reclusive superiors with tenure. Davidson has a really personal, nurturing environment and I would not have that up in chilly Cambridge.

Don't get yourself too worked up -- again, as irritating as it is to hear it, things do work out well in the end.

(And when they don't, it's never too late to transfer!)

I can't help but freak out! I just really want to go to Davidson..

I may be mistaken, but I think test scores are one of their least valuable admissions components -- assumedly you're applying ED? You'll hear in like two months -- you'll be fine! :-)
