Essays: The short answer (the "elaborate on an ec" one) is either going to be about lacrosse and what it's taught me about myself (would mentioning my asthma be an okay addition?) or how every year I participate in the school musical just for kicks (I definitely have no singing ability whatsoever) because that might reveal something not in my application; the long one is going to be about Burmese human rights activist Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and how she has influenced me; the "why Emory?" is going to mention a math class I sat in on (and how I enjoyed it even though I am social sciences/humanites type), environmentalism, and "balance" (I think, I'm still thinking that one over)

Recs: I got a great one from the director of my honors program, another one that I assume will be good from a professor I had at the summer program, and I think my guidance counselor knows me well.

Courseload (this probably should have gone up with the gpa and stuff): I think it's safe to say that I'm taking the most demanding courseload possible: 6 APs (for a total of 10), 2 honors, and 2 honors independent study courses. My one concern is that I'll only have two years of foreign language because I moved right before my freshman year (they were all full by the time I registered for courses) and my school dropped German as a language option the summer before sophomore year (AFTER I'd registered for it that Spring)--and my mother can't really afford correspondence courses.

Possible (although unlikely) hooks: URM, single-parent household, income ~100K (including my non-custodial parent's income)

I'm interested in studying either history and/or political science, if that affects my chances for any reason. Also, I'm considering applying for Emory Scholars.
