what area of TX do you live in?

Wow lots of houston area people on this board. Im from Katy and went to Cinco Ranch. Our top 25% started at a 3.85W and 3.6UW :-\ Didnt make a diff with me though cuz I took a back seat in hs lol. As for your chances, I would say you have a good chance. If you have well-written essays and have two or so letters of rec, I would count you in.

Not me. I'm from that "other" city... (austin, shhh.)

i applied to the school of business though
is it hopeless that i'll get in without being in top 10%

not hopeless! My daughter got into the college of Architecture being in the top 15%. She did have a lot of EC's, AP courses, Dual Credit Courses. Did about the same on SAT's as you. She applied mid November.
Do not give up hope yet!
Keep looking at the applicant.tamu.edu web site and keep us posted.

Our adcoms swear that admission to business is first come-first serve, not review. That favors top 10%ers de facto, because they dont have to go through the review process to get accepted. But neither do top 25%ers who broke 1300 on the SAT. Thats how I got auto-accepted, and got into mays.
