How does Duke stack up against Georgetown SFS, Stanford, Penn CAS, and JHU in IR?

Bump! (10 characters)

It seems pretty close to a sure thing as long as you don’t screw up your essays. Right now, Duke’s International Relations program is pretty average, although, lately there has been a lot of money and talk thrown around about making Duke a place of global education. It also depends in which area of the world in which you would want to specialize. Right now, our focus on Asia is a little lacking compared to our peer universities despite the fact that 25% of the student body is Asian. However, this might be changing as interest in Asia has grown over the past few years.

There’s definitely no shortage of opportunities to go abroad either. There’s plenty of grants available for research abroad. Duke Engage allows you to spend a summer abroad doing service. And of course, there are plenty of excellent traditional study abroad programs.

What about political science? I would like to do that in conjunction with economics, with a focus on international economics. I could apply this knowledge to a potential career in global health.

EDIT: What is Duke’s acceptance rate to top law schools (e.g., Yale, Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, etc.)?
