Also, are there any scholarships that I'm eligible for? How much scholarship money should I expect?

Your chances of getting in look quite good. There are numerous scholarships at Wash U, most of which you have to apply for separately and at least one (Danforth) that you have to be nominated for. Work with Wash U and your school guidance office on this latter one, you can find all the information you need regarding all scholarships on the Wash U web site.

You cannot “expect” any scholarship money, it is all a competition and so depends entirely on how you stack up against the other applicants, your essay, etc. etc. If you meant instead how much financial aid should you expect, that depends on your family income and assets, as well as your academic credentials. The financial aid office at Wash U can assist you with that process.

Good luck.

I envy you and your class of 55. My graduation dragged on for hours with my class of 710…

Your chances look pretty good (nothing is ever certain, but you would probably make a strong applicant). As for scholarships, I don’t know what your level of need is, but I wouldn’t go in expecting any scholarship money as far as merit goes, as the competition can be tough (think of it as a nice bonus if you do get them, rather than relying on merit based aid). Need-wise though, if you have a need, the school will almost certainly meet it (or go beyond your “need” as specified by Fafsa like they did for me).

What is the ideal Wash U student?

@ dvsdiva13 - There is no such thing, at least not one you can put on paper. Wash U students are diverse in almost every way. The only thing that links all of them is that they are among the top students available in any given year.

you’re eligible for all scholarships but those are given to very exceptional students. I’ve known of brilliant national scholars who go to harvard but don’t receive the full scholarship awards at WashU. If you qualify for need, you might receive some “merit scholarships” but those are just ways of disguising need-based aid. The real merit scholarships are those you apply for by writing extra essays, etc.
