Chances?

Indian female from maine

gpa: no clue, i'm estimating like a 3.6/3.7
taken the toughest corseload, many AP's
class rank: top 5%

SAT: 1920, but I only got this on a practice one w/o studying, i'll study for the real thing and hopefully get a 2100+

SAT II : So far, only Chem, 690

extra curric:
-Mock trial captain (4 yr)
-Model UN (3 yr)
-Link Crew (help the freshmen out (2 yr)
-Violin (9 yr)
-Rec sports k-12, not a big deal, just for fun

sports:
-Varsity outdoor track (4 yr) - All conference soph/junior yr
-Varsity indoor track (2 yr) - All conference junior/probaly senior yr
-Summer track club (it's not a camp, its a branch of USA Track&Field), this is the first yr i'm doing this, but there are many meets where the team will compete against college athletes and, i believe, professional athletes, we'll see how i do there! i've been told I have a chance of placing at these meets
-I am the state champion in my event, and ranked top ten in all of New England in that event. I've reached the national silver standard (possibly gold by the time I apply to colleges) and i have placed / won at many statewide (or spanning multiple states) meets

also, idk if this is a dumb question, but is it anything special being an athletic indian? i haven't met many of those.. lol. and i know that colleges look for people who are unique or different. does this qualify as being unique or different?

thanks a lot for taking the time. it's really appreciated.

& i am going to try to get recruited

Keep in mind that Emory is a DIII athletic school… I don’t know if that will affect recruiting, but that might.

Your chances at Emory are decent… your test scores should be higher and so should your grades. However, if your high school is very rigorous, Emory will take that into account. I think what you need to focus on at this point is to get the best grades possible, raise your SAT scores, and write excellent essays (in excellent essays, your voice is evident, your writing is clear, your content is creative, and your thoughts/reflections/insights are sincere). Also, be sure to demonstrate interest by ordering a VideoVisit, visiting campus, or meeting with an admissions rep at your high school in the fall.

Good luck! If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me because I just went through the admissions process at Emory and many other similar caliber schools.

thanks for the advice!
& congrats on rice!!!

deleting post, sry misread the OP.

It’s not super common, but I know some Indian girls who are awesome at sports!
As you said, higher SATs and you’ll be right on track! Good luck :]

^^hehe, you’ll be right on “track”

thanks for the advice guys!
lololol on track
hehe puns are hilarious

btw, does emory requier SATIIs? because my chem score downright sucks…

Nope Emory does not require SAT IIs, although I think they recommend them.

fantastic! then i can just submit bio and i guess math II which i’ll take next year

They don’t consider sat 2’s I emailed when I was going through the process

ok so are SAT2s completely discounted or just not required but encouraged?

the latter

excelllent
that only sweetens the emory deal haha
