I’m sorry, but honestly the chances of you getting in are very slim :(. Its extremely difficult to get in if your not top 10%, its extremely difficult to get in out-of-state. You have both those, so it would be extraordinarily difficult to get in.

Bring your class rank up. People in the top 10% in Texas have a hard time getting in. If you are below 10% out of state, your chances are very, very, low.

And just out of curiosity, how is GPA weighted at your school? That’s a very high GPA for a (relatively speaking) low rank. The valedictorian at my school had a 4.45 weighted, I was ranked 28th with a 4.4, and top 10% cutoff was 4.05. (Class size 1361). Honors were 4.5 max and AP were 5.0 max.

If you get an A in an AP class you get 6 points, B= 5 points, and so on.
If you get an A in an Honors class you get 5 points, B= 4 points, and so on.

I think the reason why my rank is so low is because there are so many people at my school who take an insane amount of APs and get As in all of them.

But thanks for your feedback! :)

UT limits the # of OOS/international to 5% if I’m not mistaken. (Read it in an email they sent me)

OOS and International are 8% right now, and can be no more than 10%.

Everything is looking bad for you except for one factor: you are Latina. This is a tremendous asset. They do look at your race/ethnicity in the process for OOS admits and this will be a huge help for you, especially because your numbers are so much above average for a Latina. Get the test scores up even higher and the rank up if you can and you will have an awesome chance.

Don’t count on it, but you have a much, much better chance than a white or Asian OOS applicant with the same stats, who most of these chances are going to be based on.

You should try the ACT if you have time.
