Chances?

I'm applying to NYU next year as an undergraduate. I'm a junior in high school right now. I plan to study business, but I don't know what specific field yet. As of the moment, I do not plan to apply ED.

PSAT: 217 (80 W, 70 CR, 67 M)

I have mostly low-A's for high school. My sophomore year was a little shaky (B's) because I transferred from a rather bad private school into a very highly-ranked public school. In Freshman year I only took one honors level course but this year I am taking three (out of four major courses).

Extracurricular Activities:

Guitar Club Founder / President
Editor in Chief for School Newspaper
Active Member in Business Club (Possibly will be president next year).
Active Member of Latin Club
Active Member of Young Republicans Club

Other Activities:

Musician. I mostly play guitar, drums, and bass. I have played onstage with a number of local bands, and have been featured as a guitarist on television twice.

I worked as an intern in a commercial photography studio for one summer. I helped prepare photo portfolios for clients and occasionally helped with editing and photo shoots.

I worked as an intern at at the New Hampshire Republican Party headquarters for one summer. I helped organize computer records, create email-fliers, and work phone-banks.

I currently work as a shoe salesperson in a local sports store. I usually work 3-4 five-hour shifts per week.

If you translate your good PSAT score into a good SAT score, you’ll be on your way.

yeah, looks good, just get some AP’s in the mix. Also, write a good essay and shortanswer explaining some of your extra curricular, because just being the president isn’t enough if you can’t write about it. I would start to think about how you can fluff up some of your EC’s, like by adding loads of bull$h1t and making yourself seem more mature.

“I would start to think about how you can fluff up some of your EC’s, like by adding loads of bull$h1t”

This is some of the worst advice I’ve ever seen.

Thanks alot for the advice!

Obviously I can use my club experience to craft a good essay, short answer, etc. There are some other clubs I am a part of, but they aren’t significant enough to matter as much.

I plan to fit in a few AP’s next year (I realize that I’ll be applying before I take the tests)… This year I actually was taking AP Biology, but I found it too repetitive having already taken Honors Bio at another school. Also, my school does not offer AP English classes or AP Latin.
