Hello everyone,

I attend a Catholic High School in New Jersey. I want to know my chances for attending University of Chicago.

SAT: 1860 (I will be retaking, although I know it is low)
SATII: US History 760, World History 680
AP: US History (5)
World History, English Lit., Environmental Science (taking next year)

I am in the top 10% of my class
Editor of my school newspaper
President of Academic Challenge
President of the History Club (vice-president the previous year)
Lead-Attorney on Mock Trial Team
National Honor Society Member
Science League
Classic and Modern Cultures Club Treasurer

I started my own service project ("The Spare Change Project") It has been featured in a couple of newspapers. I have also recieved an award from my community for helping the hungry.

I play the bagpipes (I know Notre Dame has a Pipe Band). I have recieved awards in various contests.

I was MVP of my school's Academic Decathlon team. I won honorable mentions in Speech and Social Science. I also had the highest scoring essay (on Astronomy) in the contest, winning the gold medal.

Anyone want to respond?

No offense, as I've posted a lot of these before, but I've come to learn that nobody knows. And nobody will know. I have no idea. I'm applying on a whim. Which is why it's important to have a wide range of schools.

And it's especially hard to tell with Chicago as they say they don't take scores into high consideration. Write a good essay and hope for the best. Good luck.

seeing as how chicago calls their application the "un-common app" there is really no telling whos going to get in and whos not. its a competitive school and although person a. might have amazing test scores and 10 ap classes..person b. could have dismal test scores but has shown diligence throughout high school and writes an essay that just blows the admission committee away. I'm astounded by the amount of people our age on these boards who post all their stats just in hope of having someone reply back with that anticipated response of "well sure you will DEFINITELY get into this college..don't sweat it". Although this puts an ease to our worries and makes the pressure of applying to college a little more bearable I wouldn't get your hopes up if you end up not getting in.

seeing as how chicago calls their application the "un-common app"

I've heard a lot about this, could someone please clarify what this means? I'm going to be a junior so I don't really know much about what the different applications look like.

Chicago's essay prompts are rather unusual (some say quirky) to say the least; UofC does not accept the common app. Check out their website for this year's prompts.
