<p>I am an African-American female at an urban public highschool (in the gifted megnet) in Los Angeles but I am from an upper middle class family. My stats are:</p>

-ranked in top 2% out of 990
-mostly A's with the exception of two B's (in SPanish freshman year and an indepedent study life skills class)

<p>Is there anything I could do this year to increase my chances of getting in?</p>

<p>thats not really what i was getting it. the OP has a great shot at any school she applies to, regardless of her race. the fact that shes an URM adds icing to the cake, but is not the most important factor. the amazing SAT scores and incredible strength of schedule that she has would impress any admissions officer. so kudos to you! credit needs to be given where deserved, and im absolutely POSITIVE that u will get into the school of your choosing.</p>

<p>Everything looks good to me. Good shot at Regents, too (although if you're upper middle class it may not be worth that much). Only that Spanish score, heh...</p>
