How difficult would it be to change from L&S to a film degree? I know that UCLA is weird about drastic transfers like that.
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that as of next year UCLA students are no longer allowed to internally transfer to the School of Theater, Film and Television. It’s become a bit of a scandal - before 2014, the Film program here accepted only internal and external transfers, but after they changed it to accept freshmen in 2014. People originally thought that the program would be expanding then, but instead the school decided to completely phase out internal transfers. I know a lot of people who are upset because they only chose to come to UCLA because they intended to transfer into the Film degree. So if you are absolutely set on majoring in Film, and were not already accepted into the major, do NOT come to UCLA. UCLA students are the only students that are not allowed into the UCLA film program.
That… that’s total nonsense. Why are they SO restrictive on who gets into their film school? It’s unbelievable.
I know, it’s completely ridiculous. I can understand having a competitive program, but I do not get not allowing internal transfers to even apply anymore. A lot of people I know are instead transferring to different schools - it sucks because UCLA is now losing a lot of really talented and passionate individuals.
