Change of college into engineering difficulty/experiences

Does anyone have experience/knowledge of the change of college process to get into engineering? I’ve read everything online, and my biggest worry is the “minimum GPA” requirement. Obviously, this is a minimum and the higher the better, but does getting the minimum (3.0 for IEOR) give you a solid chance? The 3.0 for IEOR is pretty low in comparison to others, but I feel like it might make sense, considering how small of a major IEOR is. It seems like this isn’t due to it needing to be kept small, just that it is a relatively unpopular major in engineering. Of course, this is assuming the more important thing, being on track for your intended major in terms of courses, is completed. I’m pre-haas right now, and trying to get into IEOR would mean I would take math 53 and e7 next semester, and physics 7a/chem1a/cs c8 over summer to get my four technicals done. If this doesn’t work out, then I completely lose my shot at Hass because my GPA will be low, so I really need to think about it. Any help/advice is appreciated!

The IEOR department also runs the similar L&S ORMS major, although it is not clear if it is easier to get into that major than switching into the CoE IEOR major. See http://ieor.berkeley.edu/academics/undergraduate/orms .

A backup major that is not restricted would be applied math with an operations research concentration. See https://math.berkeley.edu/programs/undergraduate/major/applied .
