changing from international to eligible non-citizen.

Hi
I just found out that I should soon be able to classify myself as a eligible non-citizen given that FAFSA allows parolees to apply for aid, and I hear many people are getting universities to give them domestic fees this way. Problem is, I want to study in fall 2012 but I will not have all my paperwork together tpo submit by most application deadlines. As I will not be able to prove my status for a while I guess I will have to apply as an international student and then try and get whatever university accepts me to change my status. This could be a problem as I will have no choice but to apply for need based and other aid.
If any one has any experience with this sort of thing or even just with getting universities to change details in their applications I'd be thrilled to have any advice.
all the best x

My first advice would be to wait to apply after your status has changed. How, exactly, are you going to pay for your education if you have to pay the full international fees?

If you feel that you absolutely MUST apply before your change of status, then contact each and every one of the institutions on your list and ask them about their specific process. It is likely that each place will have a different procedure.
