Hey guys,

So I'm kinda stuck in a dilemma, I'm an Industrial Engineering major. I've been thinking about my career itself and so far I haven't like my major classes and have enjoyed more the pure engineering classes more. I find Mechanical Engineering classes more interesting but if I decide to change my major I would graduate in 2 years instead of the one left with my IE degree.
Should I do this? or should I just look into a Master's program in ME once I'm done with my IE bachelor's? I don't want to do research, I want to go into industry.

Thanks!

Damn, I’m in a really similar situation. The only difference is that I have two years left for my IE degree. So if I were to switch to Mech E, I would probably only have to stay an extra semester, rather than an extra year. But I also find Mech E classes like thermodynamics and fluids much more interesting than my IE classes. So far, I think that I’m leaning towards sticking it out and finishing up my IE degree, mostly because I’d rather not stay any extra semesters. Also, Mech E classes are probably a little harder than IE classes, and there’s no guarantee that a Mech E degree would do me any better than an IE degree.

bump, any other thoughts?

Masters really isn’t exactly a degree for research. You don’t need to worry about that.
Going for the MS isn’t too bad of an idea if it’s financially worth it.
