Changing major

My son has decided he wants to change his major. It will require switching from the college of education to the college of commerce and business administration.

Anyway, the link on MyBama comes up with a message that “this form is only for new and transfer students who aren’t currently enrolled”. But that’s all there is. There is no form or link to a form. Does this mean my son can’t switch right now since he’s already been to his BamaBound session and signed up for his classes? If so, when can he officially switch his major?

We have adjusted his class schedule via drop/add to reflect the new major’s requirements.

My son had the same situation. He originally declared himself a chem/econ major on all his forms. He was able to submit the change of major form when he got on campus in the fall.

Call
1-800-933 2262 and ask how your child can change his major. As Momreads says, he may have to wait til he’s on campus and submit the form, but there may be a way to do it now.

Is there a class that your son wants to sign up for but he can’t because he’s in the wrong major/college?

If not, then it can probably wait til he gets to campus.

BTW…once he submits the form, it can take awhile before the change shows up on mybama.

Since he is switching colleges, it would be best, IMHO, for him to switch majors now. The number m2ck gives should work, but remember that you can always contact both colleges involved and see if they can make the switch should the 1-800 number not do it.

Thanks for the responses. I emailed the registrar office and they told me to call C&BA and tell them I want to switch into a business major.
