Changing Majors at McGill

Hey

I have applied to McGill for "Mechanical Engineering" and "Civil Engineering". (McGill has not sent any admission decision to me yet).

But now, I want to change my major to Physics. Is it possible to do so now?

Or, if I am admitted to McGill, then is it possible to change my major to Physics from Engineering during the course?

Any help would be appreciated

Hi, I have a similar query. Did you find out, finally?

[Changing majors, minors and degrees | Courses and Programs - McGill University](Changing programs | Courses and Programs - McGill University)

That’s just for switching majors, but does anybody know if we’re allowed to switch faculties before we even start school? I kinda had no idea what I wanted to study when I applied, but now I do.

What faculty switch are you considering? Different faculties have different admissions standards. If you were admitted to Arts or Education, your stats may not be above the minimum for Management or Life Sciences, for example. If you were admitted to Life Sciences, your stats would be above the minimum for any of the other faculties.

You also may have to show that you have the necessary prereq courses for the new faculty.

From engineering to science, most likely… I believed the reqs of CivE and MechE matched what Physics asked from applicants.

So, will a transition from Engineering to the Humanities be somewhat simpler?

I’m trying to switch from science to arts. So it is possible? Anybody know the exact steps for doing that?
